The topic of this research report is
“The Management of Cultural Diversity in the hospitality with an examination
of Mission Point Resort, Michigan”. The
purpose of this report is to
investigate the issues involved in managing a culturally diverse workforce in
the hospitality industry. Throughout the
literature review it became apparent that the issue of managing cultural
diversity is challenging but rewarding for hospitality organisations when dealt
with correctly. Primary findings consisted of both structured
questionnaires and semi-structured interviews conducted both at Mission Point
and through email. The respondents
were made up of three mangers at mission point, the General Manager, Director of
Human Resources, banqueting manager and nine non-national employees. The aim of
the personal interviews were to discuss a number of pre-arranged issues and to
do so in such a way that best obtained the respondents own views. The findings
of the primary research reinforced the secondary data examined and a number of
key issues emerged.
